"Well that's why I am here now!"
Declan declares as he follows Dakota to the boulders. He had released Cassie's hand so she could shake. He plops down on a rock and sighs. In the heat of the volcano the stone was pleasantly warm to him. To others it might be a bit hot, but the Dawn's all had a love of heat. He pulls Cassie down to sit next to him. His first instinct is to have her sit in his lap, but he had learned she wasn't comfortable doing that in public. More evidence that he was learning.

Physical Appearance: At eighteen years old and an unimpressive 5'2", Cassie's stature matches her timid personality. Her hair is cut short, although it's slightly longer in front, and is a vivid light purple color. She has delicately formed features that are often described as "cute", especially with that little nose (that turns upward ever so slightly at the end), that are set with a pair of pale blue eyes that sometimes appear lilac in certain lights. Her skin is quite pale despite how much time she spends outside, although she does keep most of her body covered with her attire, which is an odd blend of adorable, modest, and sexy. It consists of a black tank top under a long-sleeved shirt that hangs off of her shoulders, the body being white and the sleeves being a dark indigo, with a front pocket edged in pale blue; this shirt is long enough that it mostly covers her (admittedly short) green plaid skirt. This skirt reveals a few inches of pale thigh before the remainder of her legs are covered by a set of striped stockings in two shades of purple. Topping off the ensemble is a pair of plain white sneakers with black accents. She wears a golden oval locket around her neck which has a picture of her father, and a brown leather belt around her left thigh.

She also wants to see the world and all the amazing things it has to offer. She loves cute and cuddly things and her favorite Pokemon is the only one she currently owns, Piplup.

She was shunned by the other children from a very young age, and that was fine by her; she was perfectly happy to spend most of her time with her favorite person in the world, her father Will. But when Cassie was eight, her father fell ill and ended up in the hospital. After a few months of struggling against illness, he passed away. Cassie, who had never been close to her mother, withdrew into herself, becoming even more reclusive than before. She found solace in reading her father's books about Pokemon, and studying them as he had done. She wanted to make him proud, and so when she finished her schooling, she decided to become a Pokemon trainer and see the world.

Cassie released Declan's hand and shifted the Togepi egg about so that she could reach out and shake Dakota's hand, her tension easing somewhat as she smiled. Well she wasn't being shunned yet, so that was a good start to things. She did, however, laugh slightly at the gym leader's words as she spoke, and she smiled sheepishly as she retracted her hand after the handshake, using both arms to cradle the quiescent egg in her grasp.
"I'm sorry, that's mostly my fault. We've been really busy. He's been helping me put together a team. That's actually why we're here, he said Cinnabar would be a good place to train them." Following the brother and sister over to the boulders, she squeaked when Declan pulled her down beside him, her cheeks flushing deeply. Behaving like a couple in front of his sister was.. strange. Strangers were one thing, she'd gotten used to that. This was his family. She wanted them to like her. But she also wasn't much of a conversationalist, as was obvious when she ducked her head and fidgeted.

Physical Appearance: Like her brother, Dakota is a very attractive woman in her early twenties. Shoulder length red hair accentuates her bright green eyes, and complements a very attractive face. She is constantly hiking, and has a (mostly) slim, lean body, typical of runners or bikers.
Skills: Hiking, climbing, biking, and base-jumping. Anything that provides a thrill, she is likely to try it.
Personality: Hot-headed and energetic, it is rare to find her not doing some kind of physical activity, usually right alongside her Arcanine. She will also talk your ear off about anything under the sun that interests her, but is charming and an excellent friend to those in need. She does not do well staying in one place or with a lot of responsibility.
History (Optional): She took over the Cinnabar Gym for her brother when he went to go join the Elite 4, and is not happy with it at all. This has led to some minor resentment of her brother, as he gets to go explore the world why she remains behind and watches the Gym.

Dakota mused for a moment as she considered Cassie's words. It was entirely possible that he had been dsitracted, but she doubted that he would have been really in contact anyways. It was just a fact of dealing with Declan.
"I do not blame you in the slightest Cassie. You have had it worse than I've had the past few months, having to put up with that one every day. And I am glad to hear that you will be here for a while Declan, Iris and I are going on a trip, possibly to the Cerulean Cape, so you can watch the gym while I am gone."
She didn't quite want to reveal her relationship with Iris to her brother yet, she was hoping to use the trip to figure such things out.

Declan glares at Dakota mildly offended by her telling Cassie that she had it worse. He is also surprised that Dakota was taking off with Iris. Where they friends? He couldn't recall. He should probably take a more active interest in his sisters life, he was just easily distracted. His arms goes around Cassie's shoulder and he gives it a squeeze. He can sense her discomfort, but misidentifies the reason. He thinks that she is just nervous.

Cassie giggled, covering her mouth with one hand in an attempt to stifle the sounds of her mirth. Oh, she liked Dakota.. she was brash and opinionated and not afraid to say what she thought. She sort of wished she could be like that. But she was open with Declan (well.. mostly), and that was good enough for her. Speaking of Declan, as she let her hand fall, she turned her head and looked up at him with a smile when his arm came around her shoulders, her eyes shining with such love that even Dakota would be able to see the emotion.
"I don't know about all that.. he's actually pretty great, and fun to be around." Ho boy, this girl had it bad. It was several moments before she could drag her attention away from Declan and back to Dakota, although she was still positively glowing with happiness. Mention of the Cape made her perk up; that was near her home town! "Oh, Cerulean Cape? It's really nice there this time of year. I hope you enjoy your trip."

Dakota rolled her eyes in Declan's general direction, kicking a rock at the one he was sitting on while ignoring his question.
"Yes Declan, Iris, the girl from the Pokemon Center. She's only been my best friend since I got here, she's been over here nearly everyday since I got here. She even helped me deal with an Onix that was tearing holes through the volcano." She gestured to the second Pokeball on her belt, where her Onix was currently located. Her Arcanine was around somewhere, probably helping to keep the proliferating slugmas from spreading too far away from the center of the volcano. " And she is...also, sort of kind of, my girlfriend now."
Dakota blushed bright red as she said it, it still felt strange to say it, but in a good way. Iris looked at her...the same way Cassie looked at Declan. She guessed Cassie really did like Declan, just like Iris really liked her. Well she could be happy for the couple at least, and hopefully Declan wouldn't screw it up by being his usual pig-headed self.

Declan didn't seem phased by the girlfriend comment. Mostly because to his simple mind it made perfect sense. If he had a girlfriend why couldn't Dakota have one. Declan wouldn't have cared much even if the full implications had dawned on him. He was far more interested in the look Cassie had been giving him. It took him a moment to turn his attention back on his sister. Still the look he had give Cassie left little doubt to the mans own feelings.
"Do my keys still work in the gym leader house, I never gave them back."

Aww, Declan's sister had a girlfriend? That was so cute! Stifling her urge to literally say 'aww' at the confession of the other girl's relationship, Cassie simply gave Dakota a smile.

She pulled a bottle of water from her pocket and took a drink as she evaluated the couple before her. They were certainly cute together, and her brother definitely cared about Cassie, hopefully it would teach him to pay attention to other people's emotions.

"How did we meet?"
Declan paused and thought for a minute. It had only been a few months ago, but the memory was distant and foggy. He was always either looking forward or in the moment. It was rare he ever thought about the past. He was actually surprised when he found he could remember his first meeting with Cassie. He couldn't remember it very well, but it was there.
"We met in Cerulean. It turns out Elite Four members don't have much to do, so I was going to bug Sarah. Anyway I went into the pokemon center and there was a ball. It turned out that the ball belonged to her piplup who is adorable. Then we talked and I decided I would take her on as a student, because I was bored. Then I helped her catch a vulpix and a Pancham. Then she got attacked by some steelix and I rescued her and then she kissed me. Then we went and caught a..."
Declan trails off as he realizes that A) he was off topic, and B) if he kept going he would tell his baby sister about what happened in the tent. He had learned that what happened in the tent was supposed to stay in the tent, except when it was in a hotel room.

Physical Appearance: At eighteen years old and an unimpressive 5'2", Cassie's stature matches her timid personality. Her hair is cut short, although it's slightly longer in front, and is a vivid light purple color. She has delicately formed features that are often described as "cute", especially with that little nose (that turns upward ever so slightly at the end), that are set with a pair of pale blue eyes that sometimes appear lilac in certain lights. Her skin is quite pale despite how much time she spends outside, although she does keep most of her body covered with her attire, which is an odd blend of adorable, modest, and sexy. It consists of a black tank top under a long-sleeved shirt that hangs off of her shoulders, the body being white and the sleeves being a dark indigo, with a front pocket edged in pale blue; this shirt is long enough that it mostly covers her (admittedly short) green plaid skirt. This skirt reveals a few inches of pale thigh before the remainder of her legs are covered by a set of striped stockings in two shades of purple. Topping off the ensemble is a pair of plain white sneakers with black accents. She wears a golden oval locket around her neck which has a picture of her father, and a brown leather belt around her left thigh.

Skills: Cassie is a skilled singer, although usually too shy to sing where people can hear her. She can also ride a bike and rollerskate, preferring the latter to the former; she can often be seen skating around town, listening to music.

Personality: Shy and non-confrontational, Cassie doesn't often speak to others, and perpetually keeps a lollipop in her mouth to use as an excuse to avoid conversation. She likes to read and keep to herself and doesn't have any true friends. She's fascinated by Pokemon and likes to learn as much about them as she can, which is a large part of what drove her to become a Pokemon trainer. She also wants to see the world and all the amazing things it has to offer. She loves cute and cuddly things and her favorite Pokemon is the only one she currently owns, Piplup.

History (Optional): Born and raised in Cerulean City, Cassie was always a rather quiet and shy child. She was shunned by the other children from a very young age, and that was fine by her; she was perfectly happy to spend most of her time with her favorite person in the world, her father Will. But when Cassie was eight, her father fell ill and ended up in the hospital. After a few months of struggling against illness, he passed away. Cassie, who had never been close to her mother, withdrew into herself, becoming even more reclusive than before. She found solace in reading her father's books about Pokemon, and studying them as he had done. She wanted to make him proud, and so when she finished her schooling, she decided to become a Pokemon trainer and see the world.

Cassie hadn't expected Dakota to ask how they met. She opened her mouth to reply, but before she could, Declan beat her to it.. and she looked up at him in surprise. He remembered how they met? She knew his recollection of past events tended to be fuzzy, at best, but.. he remembered. The expression that slid across her face was one that said he had done very much the right thing, and that she was touched by the fact that he could remember their initial encounter in such detail. What made her blush was when he started to go on about catching her Pokemon and the events of the day they caught Pancham. At least he didn't tell her about what happened the day she caught her Deerling... Clearing her throat, she put her hand on Declan's thigh, both as a gesture of affection and to advise him that, yes, it was very wise of him to stop talking now. Her gaze slid back over to Dakota, and she smiled.
"I.. think that answers your question. It's been a crazy few months, in all. But Declan has really helped me out. He's helped me build this amazing team, and he's taught me so much. I don't know what I'd do without him." After saying that, she shot him another fond look. The girl really was smitten.

Physical Appearance: Like her brother, Dakota is a very attractive woman in her early twenties. Shoulder length red hair accentuates her bright green eyes, and complements a very attractive face. She is constantly hiking, and has a (mostly) slim, lean body, typical of runners or bikers.
Skills: Hiking, climbing, biking, and base-jumping. Anything that provides a thrill, she is likely to try it.
Personality: Hot-headed and energetic, it is rare to find her not doing some kind of physical activity, usually right alongside her Arcanine. She will also talk your ear off about anything under the sun that interests her, but is charming and an excellent friend to those in need. She does not do well staying in one place or with a lot of responsibility.
History (Optional): She took over the Cinnabar Gym for her brother when he went to go join the Elite 4, and is not happy with it at all. This has led to some minor resentment of her brother, as he gets to go explore the world why she remains behind and watches the Gym.

Dakota sat there stunned for a moment as Declan related his tale. This was a whole new side to her brother, training and mentoring another trainer? Sure he had taught her too, but it had been a rather harsh series of lessons, punctuated nearly daily by the two of them screaminv at one another.
"Well Cassie, it would seem you have done the impossible and tamed Declan Dawn." She said it lightheartedly, mostly poking fun at her elder brother.
"But in all seriousness, you guys are really cute together, and I am happy you found each other."

Declan grins back at Cassie. In that look it is clear that he has it almost as bad as Cassie does. Despite his relative denseness he was slowly learning what it meant to love someone. Indeed he wasn't even inclined to snap back at Dakota at her taming him comment. After all there was some truth to it.
"Thanks Dakota. I'm really glad I found her to."

Cassie sputtered a bit and blushed a lot at that comment, before laughing and ducking her head.
"I-I don't know about taming him, I mean, he's still impetuous and stubborn, but.. well, we've been good for each other. He's helped me be not so timid, and I suppose in return I've made him not quite as reckless." She looked up at Declan when he spoke, her eyes soft and filled with her emotions. But she tried to rein it in, remembering Dakota was there, and cleared her throat, looking back at the girl with red cheeks. "So um, how long have you been with your girlfriend?"

Dakota blushed as she recalled that only yesterday she had found out about how Iris felt, and then spent the evening figuring out how she felt about it.
"Er...well, since this morning I guess. We had breakfast together, she is at work now though. Heh, she has purple hair too. Must be something that runs in the family eh Declan?" She laughed a bit nervously. Her relationship with Iris was still new to her, and she wasn't sure how to talk about it.
