Physical Appearance: Like her brother, Dakota is a very attractive woman in her early twenties. Shoulder length red hair accentuates her bright green eyes, and complements a very attractive face. She is constantly hiking, and has a (mostly) slim, lean body, typical of runners or bikers.

"Ok ok ok! We will leave."
The heat had never really bothered her, probably too much time spent around fire Pokemon she figured. She allowed herself to be dragged along, Arcanine using his nose to help push her along the tunnel as Iris dragged her back towards the gym. She laughed and ggigled nearly the whole way up, eventually the combination of Arcanine and Iris would mess up, sending the whole group sprawling to the floor once again.
Dakota ate dirt when she fell, her arms not in a good position to catch her as she fell.
"Pthh...ugh gross. Volcano dirt does not taste as good as normal dirt."

Physical Appearance: Standing at an average 5'5", Iris Mayland has long dark hair that's a dark reddish-purple color, and usually falls unhindered to her knees. Her eyes are a pale greyish-purple, generally filled with nervousness or anxiety. She has a delicate build that makes her look younger than her nineteen years, but she's freakishly strong, especially when angry. She usually wears her nurse trainee outfit, comprised of a pink blouse with white collar and button placket and short puffy sleeves, a light blue pleated skirt, a white apron, and white sneakers. Her extremities are usually wrapped in bandages of some sort, as she's constantly injuring herself.

She's also clumsy, graceless, and has an easily riled temper - thankfully, it's also easy to soothe. She's bookish and has a tendency to vomit facts when confronted with a cute boy, which makes her flustered and awkward. Well, more awkward than usual.

History (Optional): Born and raised in Viridian City, Iris had no desire to become a Pokemon trainer like most of her friends. She was too afraid of the outside world, and so she decided her intelligence was better spent elsewhere. This was what led her to enter the Pokemon Nurse Training Program after she finished her schooling, and decided to do her training on Cinnabar Island. The only Pokemon she has is a Sylveon that she was given by her parents, who is her best friend.

Iris squeaked as Dakota stumbled and staggered into her, causing the nurse to trip all over herself and hit the ground, barely managing to land without squishing Sylveon, who leaped out of her arms and looked at the tangle of humans with an amused coo. Iris giggled at the sight they must make, then laughed even harder as Dakota spit out dirt and spoke. "I wouldn't think non-volcano dirt would taste very good at all, but I'll take your word for it!" Looking down at the girl who was laying half on top of her, Iris giggled and brushed some dirt from her face, as well as some of her hair, her eyes shining. She'd always thought Dakota was so pretty, and the girl was her best friend. Struck with the sudden urge to kiss her only real friend, she blushed and quickly looked away, disentangling herself from Dakota and standing, before reaching down to help the trainer to her feet. "Up you go!"

That was certainly...strange. As Iris had helped her up, she could have sworn she had just seen Iris blush as their eyes met. The thought was quickly dismissed in her mind as Iris being her usually strange self. She quickly got up with Iris's help, and dusted off her clothes. Her hair was a wreck from the battle and the fall though, and she shook it out of its pony tail to help try and get some of the dirt out.
"Grrr, I will have to wash it out later, maybe I will go for a swim in the ocean when we get back..."
She let out a long sigh before continuing. It would likely be a long time before something came even close to being as exciting as this day was on the island, and that thought momentarily filled her with sadness.
"Do you actually like living on this island Iris?"

Releasing Dakota's hand once the other girl was standing, Iris continued to accompany her out of the tunnel and back into the gym proper. "Hmm, a swim sounds nice. I think I'll join you! It's been a while since we've been to the beach, eh, Sylveon?" The Pokemon cooed and bounced around excitedly at the prospect of going to the beach, and Iris smiled. She wasn't expecting the question lobbed her way, however, and tripped, stumbling a bit before she found her balance, and looked at the other girl with slightly wide eyes. Then she laughed, giving her a carefree smile.
"Where did that question come from? Of course I like it here. I mean I'm not wild about the heat sometimes, but otherwise, it's great. Why do you ask?" Dakota was given a very puzzled look as she asked that.

"Because I want to get away from here! See the world you know? But there goes Declan again, off to see the world while I am left behind again to watch out for the responsibilities he couldn't be arsed to deal with."
It felt good to finally vent her frustrations, she hadnt even told Iris how she felt about her brother leaving yet, cause it made her feel guilty for resenting him. But she had to let it all out somehow. A couple of lone tears of frustration fell slowly down her cheeks, and Arcanine nuzzled her softly in the shoulder.
"Its just...its just not fair. He did what he always does and just assumed I would be okay with running the gym because it meant he got todo what he wanted to do and that was all he could think about."

Iris looked at her friend, slightly astonished by the outburst. Sure, Dakota was fiery and her temper sometimes ran away with her, but Iris had no clue she was so unhappy here. A frown appeared on her face, and she moved closer, wrapping her arm around Dakota's shoulders and giving the girl as tight a one-armed hug as she could manage.
"Dakota, it's true, Declan is an airhead and a spaz, but I really don't think that's why he did it. I mean sure, he got selected to be one of the Elite Four, and he probably took it because of the freedoms and opportunities it would afford him.. but I also know Declan Dawn. He wouldn't have put you in charge of the gym unless he thought you deserved it. You've worked hard, and you're a great trainer, and knowing Declan, his thoughts were, 'This would be a great chance for Dakota to really prove herself and show everyone what she's made of.' He's a twit, but he does love you. So here's what you should do." They had exited the tunnel by this time, and Iris turned off the flashlight and set it aside, then turned to face Dakota and put her hands on the other girl's shoulders. Giving her a beaming grin, she continued.
"Be the best damn gym leader you can be. Even if it's just for a year. If you decide it's not for you, pick a replacement. I should be done with my nurse training by then, and we can go on an adventure. Just the two of us. We'll go roaming, and explore to your heart's content, and maybe we'll even find somewhere else you really like, and we can stay there for however long you want. Deal?"

She sniffed and hugged Iris back, successfully stopping the very brief flow of tears.
"I know he didn't do it to be mean, and I know he thought I could do it and I can! But after only a few weeks I can already see why he left. It is crazy boring! Nearly all of the trainers who come through are incompetent, all 3 of them or whatever!"
She paused for a moment, taking in Iris's words, whch brought a smile to her face, and brought about a rapid change in her emotions.
"You would go with me? I guess...I guess I can be a Gym Leader until you're done training! Then we'll go explore the world!!"

Iris gave Dakota a puzzled look, and then laughed. "Of course I'd go with you, silly! You're my best friend, aside from Sylveon - my only friend, really. It'd be totally dull and intolerable around here without you." Her right hand rose from the other girl's shoulder, fingertips gently swiping away the residue of tears on Dakota's cheeks, before she pulled the trainer into a full-on hug. She held it for several long moments, simply enjoying the feel of the other girl in her arms, then gently pushed her back and gave Dakota a dazzling grin.
"Now. Cheer up, and let's go celebrate your new Pokemon with a swim on the beach, yeah? Go get into your bathing suit, I'll meet you at our usual spot in fifteen, okay?" Waving an eager farewell, she skipped out of the gym. She was going to follow her own advice, go home and change, then head to their favorite cove on the beach.

Dakota sighed and watched Iris run off to get changed. What had gotten in to her today? She certainly seemed happier than usual. She was probably just glad to that they caught Onix.
She didn't have to go far to get changed, a small living space was built on to the front part of the gym, which backed into the volcano. Probably not the safest play to live, but it didn't bother Dakota one bit.
By the time she was done changing, Arcanine was waiting at the door, so she hopped on his back and sped off toward the Cove.

After assuring Cassie that they would find time for the beach, Declan leads her to the gym. He is looking forward to seeing Dakota again it had been... A few months? Huh, it had been he hadn't really noticed how much time had passed. Well whatever she probably wouldn't be too mad at him. Well she would probably be mad at first, but he was reasonably sure she would then be surprised by Cassie. He was pretty sure his sister wouldn't have seen this coming in a million years. When he gets to the gym he calls out.
"Yo Dakota! Where are you?"

Physical Appearance: At eighteen years old and an unimpressive 5'2", Cassie's stature matches her timid personality. Her hair is cut short, although it's slightly longer in front, and is a vivid light purple color. She has delicately formed features that are often described as "cute", especially with that little nose (that turns upward ever so slightly at the end), that are set with a pair of pale blue eyes that sometimes appear lilac in certain lights. Her skin is quite pale despite how much time she spends outside, although she does keep most of her body covered with her attire, which is an odd blend of adorable, modest, and sexy. It consists of a black tank top under a long-sleeved shirt that hangs off of her shoulders, the body being white and the sleeves being a dark indigo, with a front pocket edged in pale blue; this shirt is long enough that it mostly covers her (admittedly short) green plaid skirt. This skirt reveals a few inches of pale thigh before the remainder of her legs are covered by a set of striped stockings in two shades of purple. Topping off the ensemble is a pair of plain white sneakers with black accents. She wears a golden oval locket around her neck which has a picture of her father, and a brown leather belt around her left thigh.

Skills: Cassie is a skilled singer, although usually too shy to sing where people can hear her. She can also ride a bike and rollerskate, preferring the latter to the former; she can often be seen skating around town, listening to music.

Personality: Shy and non-confrontational, Cassie doesn't often speak to others, and perpetually keeps a lollipop in her mouth to use as an excuse to avoid conversation. She likes to read and keep to herself and doesn't have any true friends. She's fascinated by Pokemon and likes to learn as much about them as she can, which is a large part of what drove her to become a Pokemon trainer. She also wants to see the world and all the amazing things it has to offer. She loves cute and cuddly things and her favorite Pokemon is the only one she currently owns, Piplup.

She was shunned by the other children from a very young age, and that was fine by her; she was perfectly happy to spend most of her time with her favorite person in the world, her father Will. But when Cassie was eight, her father fell ill and ended up in the hospital. After a few months of struggling against illness, he passed away. Cassie, who had never been close to her mother, withdrew into herself, becoming even more reclusive than before. She found solace in reading her father's books about Pokemon, and studying them as he had done. She wanted to make him proud, and so when she finished her schooling, she decided to become a Pokemon trainer and see the world.

Cassie became completely silent as they set foot in the gym, and she briefly wondered if maybe she shouldn't let go of Declan's hand. ..Then she realized he probably wouldn't let her. She settled for hugging the Togepi egg anxiously to her chest with her other arm as she waited for Declan's sister to appear. As she waited, she worried. What if Dakota didn't like her? Worse, what if the gym leader hated her? What if his parents hated her, too? She tried very hard not to fidget as visions of Declan telling her they couldn't be together anymore because his family hated her filled her head. This was a mistake. She shouldn't be here. She began to shuffle backward, and was stopped only when her hand in his kept her from going any further.

Personality: Hot-headed and energetic, it is rare to find her not doing some kind of physical activity, usually right alongside her Arcanine. History (Optional): She took over the Cinnabar Gym for her brother when he went to go join the Elite 4, and is not happy with it at all. This has led to some minor resentment of her brother, as he gets to go explore the world why she remains behind and watches the Gym.

It had been a couple hours since she had gotten back to the gym from Iris's, her pretty, well, girlfriend she guessed now, working at the Pokemon Center the rest of the day. When she heard Declan's voice she nearly came running out of the side room to see him, but then realized that wasn't the impression she wanted to give, so instead she walked out, her eyes locked in him as her voice barely contained her rising anger.
"You don't call, or write, or visit for months and that's how you come back? 'Yo Dakota! Where are you?' I ought to...um..."
Her voice trailed off as she finally noticed Cassie, and more importantly noticed the fact that they were holding hands. She stood there, too stunned for words for a few moments, before continuing.
"Um...yes...ahem. Hi there. I am Dakota, Declan's sister. Welcome to my gym. And you are?"

Declan just grins at his sister. He is utterly unfazed by her anger, because of course he is. The man was not completely oblivious to the emotions of the others, but he was close. He turns to find Cassie, who is for some reason looking at the door, and he pulls her forward. As he does he speaks.
"How else would I greet you. Anyway this is Cassie, my girl friend. Say hi."

Physical Appearance: At eighteen years old and an unimpressive 5'2", Cassie's stature matches her timid personality. Her hair is cut short, although it's slightly longer in front, and is a vivid light purple color. She has delicately formed features that are often described as "cute", especially with that little nose (that turns upward ever so slightly at the end), that are set with a pair of pale blue eyes that sometimes appear lilac in certain lights. Her skin is quite pale despite how much time she spends outside, although she does keep most of her body covered with her attire, which is an odd blend of adorable, modest, and sexy. It consists of a black tank top under a long-sleeved shirt that hangs off of her shoulders, the body being white and the sleeves being a dark indigo, with a front pocket edged in pale blue; this shirt is long enough that it mostly covers her (admittedly short) green plaid skirt. This skirt reveals a few inches of pale thigh before the remainder of her legs are covered by a set of striped stockings in two shades of purple. Topping off the ensemble is a pair of plain white sneakers with black accents. She wears a golden oval locket around her neck which has a picture of her father, and a brown leather belt around her left thigh.

Skills: Cassie is a skilled singer, although usually too shy to sing where people can hear her. She can also ride a bike and rollerskate, preferring the latter to the former; she can often be seen skating around town, listening to music.

Personality: Shy and non-confrontational, Cassie doesn't often speak to others, and perpetually keeps a lollipop in her mouth to use as an excuse to avoid conversation. She likes to read and keep to herself and doesn't have any true friends. She's fascinated by Pokemon and likes to learn as much about them as she can, which is a large part of what drove her to become a Pokemon trainer. She also wants to see the world and all the amazing things it has to offer. She loves cute and cuddly things and her favorite Pokemon is the only one she currently owns, Piplup.

History (Optional): Born and raised in Cerulean City, Cassie was always a rather quiet and shy child. She was shunned by the other children from a very young age, and that was fine by her; she was perfectly happy to spend most of her time with her favorite person in the world, her father Will. But when Cassie was eight, her father fell ill and ended up in the hospital. After a few months of struggling against illness, he passed away. Cassie, who had never been close to her mother, withdrew into herself, becoming even more reclusive than before. She found solace in reading her father's books about Pokemon, and studying them as he had done. She wanted to make him proud, and so when she finished her schooling, she decided to become a Pokemon trainer and see the world.

That the aforementioned sister came out of a back room looking ready to kill Declan did not fill Cassie with even a little bit of confidence. But she couldn't shuffle backward without taking her hand from his, and she'd already discovered he wasn't going to let her go. She uttered a soft squeak of protest as Declan tugged her forward, and smiled shyly at being introduced as his girlfriend. Shuffling anxiously as she came to stand fully at his side once more, she shifted her grip on the Togepi egg so that she could wave at Dakota with that hand, meeting the other girl's gaze nervously as she spoke.
"Um.. hi. I'm.. Cassie Wells. It's nice to finally meet you. I've heard a lot about you."

She didn't know why she even bothered to show her brother any emotion. It all went right over his head. She shook her head at her brother, she doubted he would ever change, though she guessed he had somehow convinced this Cassie person to date him...maybe he had changed a bit. But probably not. She extended her hand out to Cassie as she walked closer, with the intent to shake her hand.
"Pleased to meet you Cassie, I wish I could say the same...but, uh, well you know." Her hand waved in Declan's general direction.
"Well don't just stand there, feel free to take a seat, there's a good cluster of boulders over there we can all sit at. Come on!"
