 Viridian Forest is a forest which lies between Viridian City and Pewter City in the middle of Route 2 with both the north and south entrances of Viridian Forest open to the route. The deep and sprawling forest is said to be a natural maze as many people get lost inside. The trees in the forest are so thick that little light gets in, and because of this the forest is full of Bug- and Flying-type Pokémon that attract Bug Catchers and other Trainers. |

Physical Appearance: At eighteen years old and an unimpressive 5'2", Cassie's stature matches her timid personality. Her hair is cut short, although it's slightly longer in front, and is a vivid light purple color. She has delicately formed features that are often described as "cute", especially with that little nose (that turns upward ever so slightly at the end), that are set with a pair of pale blue eyes that sometimes appear lilac in certain lights. Her skin is quite pale despite how much time she spends outside, although she does keep most of her body covered with her attire, which is an odd blend of adorable, modest, and sexy. It consists of a black tank top under a long-sleeved shirt that hangs off of her shoulders, the body being white and the sleeves being a dark indigo, with a front pocket edged in pale blue; this shirt is long enough that it mostly covers her (admittedly short) green plaid skirt. Topping off the ensemble is a pair of plain white sneakers with black accents. She wears a golden oval locket around her neck which has a picture of her father, and a brown leather belt around her left thigh.

The week of travel from Mt. Moon to Viridian City had been one of wonder for Cassie. All the new sights, the Pokemon they'd seen, the beautiful scenery... And of course, the tentative exploration of her relationship with Declan. Okay so that exploration hadn't been much more than a lot of kissing and some shy touching and cuddling together at night when they had to sleep in the tent, but that was okay. They were taking it slow! Slow was good. As they entered the forest, she looked around curiously, wondering how hard it would be to find a Deerling. Hopefully it wouldn't be as difficult as when she'd found Pancham.. no more Steelix attacks, thank you! She looked anxiously up at the sky. It was early afternoon, so they could probably roam for a while before making camp. If they managed to find a Deerling before the sun began to set, they might not even need to make camp at all, which was a mixed blessing, as sleeping in a bed was nice, but sleeping in Declan's arms in the tent was even better. She looked questioningly at Declan, then, uncertain of what they should do. He usually made the decisions, since he was so experienced, and Cassie was perfectly okay with that. Should he glance her way, she'd give him a beaming grin.
"So what should we do? Split up and start searching?"

Declan looks up at the sky and thinks. There is enough time to search before nightfall, but Deerling wasn't native to the region. Finding one was going to take some time. So he decides it's best to set up camp and then search. They would have to spend at least a day or two here. He would have her gather fire wood while he set up the tent. Once that was done he'd spend some time searching for Deerling.

Trusting that Declan knew what was best, she nodded and got to work hunting down firewood, with the help of her three Pokemon. She hated putting them in their balls unless it was absolutely necessary, so they often roamed around with her, whenever she could get away with it. With their camp set up, she decided to strike out into the forest, keeping an eye out for Deerling even as she was enjoying the scenery. It was really quite pretty here. Just the kind of place she'd like to buy some land and build a house. But living alone with just her Pokemon as she became an old woman was looking less and less likely, and that prospect made her happy. There was a bounce in her step as she walked around, but as the sun began to set, she headed back to the camp. Arriving before Declan, she set about making dinner, hot dogs and macaroni and cheese. Her Pokemon chattered and played nearby, reflecting their trainer's good mood as she cooked.

Declan joined Cassie not too long after, long enough for dinner to be ready at least. He rolls into camp and plops down next to the fire accepting the macaroni gratefully. As was his want, he studies Cassie as he eats. He hadn't said much about their relationship in the last week. He had no qualms about showing affection, but he hadn't spoken about what they were doing. At first this was because he hadn't been thinking about it. He was just doing what he wanted to do. Now though he was trying to puzzle things out. What were they to each other? He drudges looking for concepts and words from conversations and memories long examined. Relationships had always been a secondary thing next to battles and pokemon. Now he found himself more and more concerned with her. It was similar to how he felt about Dakota, but more intense, so did that make it love? Declan blinked. He hadn't even thought of that word in relation to someone not in his family or a pokemon before. Did he love Cassie? He wasn't sure and that makes him frown.

Cassie was used to Declan studying her, by this point. She had no idea what was going on inside that man's head, but she realized it didn't much matter, either; he liked her, she liked him, they enjoyed kissing and cuddling and all that other stuff. What was there to worry about? Hopefully nothing. Little did she know what he was thinking.. though she got a clue as she glanced up from her dinner and saw him frowning. Her cheery smile automatically dimmed, becoming filled with slight concern as she tilted her head. Forgetting her dinner and focusing on him, she spoke softly, her words hesitant.
"..Declan? Is something wrong?"

"I'm thinking."
A surprisingly novel concept for Declan who was a creature of action. He also wasn't one to beat around the bush, so it was barely a moment later that he elaborated.
"I am trying to figure out what this thing is and if I love you. I think I might, but I've never loved anyone but family and my pokemon. I'm not sure and I am not sure why, but that bothers me. What do you think Cassie, what is happening between us?"
Declan looks at her curiously, head cocked to the side. It was certainly an unorthodox way of approaching things, but that was Declan in a nutshell wasn't it?

Cassie's brows shot upward in surprise. Declan was thinking? That was shocking enough that she set her half-finished dinner aside, and waited to hear what he had to say. Because if she knew Declan - and she should, after this long, at least a little - he was going to just ramble on about whatever it was he was thinking. And she was right. But what he said not only made her eyes go round as dinner plates, it also made her blush a vibrant shade of red. He thought he might love her..? Her heart pounded so hard that she could hear it, the blood thumping in her ears. The thought of being loved by Declan, of loving Declan, was both exciting and terrifying, and it filled her with a surge of warmth. But she wasn't expecting to have that question turned on her. Blinking rapidly, she tucked her hands anxiously against her midriff and tried to think of how to answer him. Did she love him? Cassie didn't know.
"I.. I don't know. I've liked you for a while.. I think I liked you before I even knew I did. And being with you.. it makes me so happy. I've never felt this way about anyone, and.. I don't know if it's love.. for either of us. But I know that I'd like it if it became love." She felt the heat in her face increase yet more, and ducked her head slightly. She murmured shyly, looking at her fingers as they twisted in the fabric of her shirt. "But I'll be happy just to be with you.. no matter how long it lasts, or if it's love or not."

Declan sits staring at her for another long moment. He doesn't know and he doesn't like not knowing. Instead he focuses on the things he does know. He knows he likes holding her and kissing her. He likes running his hands over the curves of her body. He doesn't like that she stops him from touching certain spots on her. He understands that those spots shouldn't be touched lightly, but he still wants to touch them. Ultimately he knows that he likes her company and he likes her.
"I don't know if it's love, but I definitely like you. I suppose that's enough for now."
With that he returns to his dinner. Once it's done he cleans up and then retires to the tent. His worries have been pushed out of his mind and instead he focuses again on what he likes. Which means Cassie is lavished with attention when she enters the tent.

Physical Appearance: At eighteen years old and an unimpressive 5'2", Cassie's stature matches her timid personality. Her hair is cut short, although it's slightly longer in front, and is a vivid light purple color. She has delicately formed features that are often described as "cute", especially with that little nose (that turns upward ever so slightly at the end), that are set with a pair of pale blue eyes that sometimes appear lilac in certain lights. Her skin is quite pale despite how much time she spends outside, although she does keep most of her body covered with her attire, which is an odd blend of adorable, modest, and sexy. It consists of a black tank top under a long-sleeved shirt that hangs off of her shoulders, the body being white and the sleeves being a dark indigo, with a front pocket edged in pale blue; this shirt is long enough that it mostly covers her (admittedly short) green plaid skirt. This skirt reveals a few inches of pale thigh before the remainder of her legs are covered by a set of striped stockings in two shades of purple. Topping off the ensemble is a pair of plain white sneakers with black accents. She wears a golden oval locket around her neck which has a picture of her father, and a brown leather belt around her left thigh.

Personality: Shy and non-confrontational, Cassie doesn't often speak to others, and perpetually keeps a lollipop in her mouth to use as an excuse to avoid conversation. She likes to read and keep to herself and doesn't have any true friends. She's fascinated by Pokemon and likes to learn as much about them as she can, which is a large part of what drove her to become a Pokemon trainer. She also wants to see the world and all the amazing things it has to offer. She loves cute and cuddly things and her favorite Pokemon is the only one she currently owns, Piplup.

Cassie, who had never been close to her mother, withdrew into herself, becoming even more reclusive than before. She found solace in reading her father's books about Pokemon, and studying them as he had done. She wanted to make him proud, and so when she finished her schooling, she decided to become a Pokemon trainer and see the world.

Cassie peeked up at him past the barrier of her hair, chewing anxiously on her lip as she watched Declan think over what she'd said. When he finally spoke again, she breathed a sigh of relief, and raised her head, a bright smile claiming her features once more. She quickly finished her dinner and helped clean up the camp, then brushed her teeth and crawled into the tent with Declan. She quickly stripped out of her outer layers of clothing, down to her tank top and tiny shorts, and giggled when Declan pulled her in to begin showering her with affection. She didn't let him pin her to her sleeping bag as he usually did, though, and took the initiative, instead settling atop him with her legs astride his hips. As she kissed him heatedly, she took his hands and guided them up to a place she had stated as off-limits before, letting him curl his fingers over her breasts. It was a bold step, for her, but given the conversation they'd just had, she wanted to show him how much she cared, and that she trusted him.

Declan's was surprised as Cassie rolled on top of him. It was a new experience since he was usually the one who took charge. He watched curious as she lead his hands up her body to her chest and his expression changed as he felt the soft mounds under his hands. It wasn't simple desire in his eyes anymore, it was lust. Cassie gasped at the feelings that filled her as Declan touched her, and she shuddered atop him, her eyes closing as she kissed him. A soft moan fell from her lips to his, so quiet it was nearly a sigh, and she threw caution to the winds, allowing herself to be fully immersed in the feelings inspired by his touch. Sitting perched on her knees made it perfectly easy for her to move against him in a way that was far from innocent, but all she knew was that it felt so good, and she had no intention of stopping. They might not love each other, not yet, but there were definitely feelings there.. she could give him this, at least.

Declan could feel her moving against him. Cassie was grinding her body against his, as he continues to explore her breasts. He wants more though, he is enjoying himself and she is as well. With a growl of desire that reverberates in her throat thanks to the kiss he flips her onto her back. Cassie gasped a surprised noise that wasn't quite a squeak as Declan growled and suddenly flipped their bodies over, pinning her to her sleeping bag as was his custom. She wriggled against him, then went stock still as she felt his hand venturing into dangerous territory. Her mind whirled. Was she ready for that? She wasn't sure. Panicking and wracked with desire, she acted on impulse, pulling his hand away from her body and twining her fingers with his, then the other darted down between their bodies.. and slid her hand down the front of his pants before she could stop herself with logic, in an attempt to distract him.

Declan grunts in protest when she moves away his hands, but it changes to a gasp of appreciation as he feels her hand dip into his pants. Cassie was playing with fire now and things were about to get interesting indeed.
<Fade to Black.>
The following morning found Cassie as usual cradled in Declan's arms. Things had not gone quite as far as they might have, but farther than Cassie had thought. The end result had left both temporarily satisfied, but Declan had still wanted more. Still it was likely for the best they had stopped where they had. The man snores gently and his grip upon her is tighter than normal. Her actions had increased the strength of the emotions he felt, even if they hadn't provided clarity.
