Physical Appearance: At eighteen years old and an unimpressive 5'2", Cassie's stature matches her timid personality. Her hair is cut short, although it's slightly longer in front, and is a vivid light purple color. She has delicately formed features that are often described as "cute", especially with that little nose (that turns upward ever so slightly at the end), that are set with a pair of pale blue eyes that sometimes appear lilac in certain lights. Her skin is quite pale despite how much time she spends outside, although she does keep most of her body covered with her attire, which is an odd blend of adorable, modest, and sexy. The Wells house is where Cassie Wells lives with her mother, Veronica. The home is a sad and quiet place ever since the passing of Cassie's father, Will, almost ten years ago. Cassie doesn't spend much of her time there, only going home for meals and sleep, and her mother is often gone. She's a Pokemon researcher who studies the Pokemon around Cerulean City, and she tends to be out more often than not, leaving Cassie to fend for herself quite frequently.

Cassie unlocked the door and moved inside, taking off her sneakers and setting down Piplup as she looked around. "Mom? I'm home." There was no answer, and Cassie moved into the kitchen, looking for a note. She found one attached to the fridge, and pulled it free, reading it silently while Piplup looked up at her.
Cassie,
I've had to go to the lab for a couple of weeks. I left money for food in the usual spot. Sorry I won't be home for your birthday.

Cassie frowned, then tacked the note back onto the fridge. Grabbing the notepad near the fridge and a pen, she scribbled a quick note of her own.
Mom,
Mister Declan Dawn came to the Pokemon Center today. He wants to teach me how to be a Pokemon trainer. I'm going to go with him. I'll keep in touch.

Putting that note up beside the other one, she veered into the living room, delving into a drawer of the desk there and pulling a wad of money out from behind the false drawer bottom. Then she headed into her bedroom, Piplup at her heels, and began packing the things she might need into her backpack, which was blue and had a Piplup on it. Piplup watched her curiously as she gathered items - spare socks and undergarments, her bathing suit, some extra Pokeballs, her Pokedex, and a small photo album. When she pulled the album out of her nightstand drawer, rather than packing it immediately, she sat down on her bed and began to flip through it. It held nothing but pictures of her father, and Cassie with her father, and Piplup, and Cassie with Piplup. She smiled fondly as she looked at the images. She missed her dad a lot, and Piplup could tell she was sad, looking at the pictures. She waddled over and hugged Cassie's legs with a soft chirp. Cassie set aside the album and picked up Piplup, cuddling her with a smile. "We're going on an adventure, Piplup. Aren't you excited?"
She'd finish packing, including the money her mom left, then lay on her bed and read until Declan arrived.

It was hours later when the door to Cassie's house banged open. There was a great deal of noise and sound mostly pots and pans. Whenever Cassie got the nerve to check downstairs she would find Declan in her kitchen apparently making omelettes. His infernape Ember is helping climbing around the kitchen handing him ingredients. Declan is humming a tuneless song as he works. He hasn't noticed Cassie yet.

Cassie had fallen asleep, and she jolted violently awake when she heard the door bang open. That definitely was not her mom. It was probably Declan, but it still took her a few moments to get her pounding heart under control. Sliding out of bed, Piplup followed her downstairs, and she poked her head around the kitchen doorway, then blinked at seeing Declan.. making omelettes? Shuffling into the room on sock feet, she idly hitched up the shoulders of her shirt where it had slid down, then crossed her arms over her stomach and fidgeted slightly.
"Um.. how did it go? ..And why are you making omelettes..?" She looked a mixture of confused and curious as she idly rubbed at her left arm with her right hand. Piplup stood beside her feet, flipper hooked around her lower leg, and watched Ember move about with great interest.

Declan looks up when Cassie speaks and gives her a confused look. Though the statement has an upwards inflection it is less a question and more a remark of confusion. He was hungry and he wanted eggs why else would he be cooking omelettes? It seemed odd that she was questioning it. The omelettes surprisingly smell rather good, smoked ham, peppers, green onion, and a cheese blend. He turns an omelette onto a plate and then sets about making another one.
"That one is yours. Also I found a note, it's your birthday soon? We should get a cake!"

"..That makes sense." Perhaps she should've phrased it, 'Why are you making omelettes in my kitchen?' Then she realized, it wasn't like he lived in Cerulean City, there wasn't much of anywhere else he could go to cook. So she decided to let it go, and instead just took the omelette, fishing a fork out of the silverware drawer, and pulled herself up onto the counter to eat. "Thank you." She reached up into a nearby cabinet and grabbed a piece of Pokemon food for Piplup, handing it down to the Pokemon, who began eating happily. She set out the bowl with the food so that Ember could grab some, too, then began eating.. only to freeze with her mouth full of fork and omelette when she realized Declan had seen the note left by her mom. Hastily swallowing, she shook her head.
"No.. well, I mean, yes, my birthday is next week, but.. that's okay. I don't really celebrate it anymore. So no cake is necessary." She ducked her head and resumed eating, surprised at how good the omelette was. She wouldn't have expected someone like Declan to be a good cook. Then again, with his penchant for fire Pokemon, maybe it shouldn't be so surprising.

"Don't be silly cake is always necessary on birthdays."
Declan states in his normal tone voice. That is to say a tone of voice that has a firm and unwavering belief in whatever he is saying. It would simply not occur to him that Cassie may not want cake or to celebrate her birthday. Arguing that he shouldn't get her a cake wouldn't get her anywhere most likely. Well not unless she took some drastic action. Once his own omelette is ready he joins her at the table.
"Okay so where were we before I got distracted? Oh right we should got to route 8!"

Cassie sighed. She did like cake, but... No! She needed to learn to be firm and confident and more sure of herself and what she wanted. So with her omelette finished, she slid off the counter and put the plate and fork in the sink, then turned to Declan, and followed him to the table. Crossing her arms in an attempt to make herself feel less vulnerable and uncertain, she fixed him with a firm look.
"Yes. Route 8. Declan, I don't want a cake, because I don't want to celebrate my birthday. I haven't in six years and there's no reason to start now. So once you're done eating, we can go to Route 8, and there will be no birthday, and no cake. So.. so there!" Cassie had never spoken to anyone like that in her life, and the realization that she'd done so was both oddly liberating and mortifying, and she found herself blushing intently. Whirling away, she hurried up the stairs to her room to retrieve her backpack, and give herself time to calm down and stop blushing.

Decalen looked up curiously when Cassie took her firm stance. He then looked absolutely shocked when she put her foot down. Huh, apparently she really didn't want cake. It was rare that anyone actually tried to put their foot down with him and he wasn't quite sure what to do. Everyone should have cake on their birthday, but she didn't want cake? He mulls over this conundrum while he waits for her. When she finally comes down he has made a decision and he leads the way out of the house. It is early in the morning, which explained the egg and he marches her out of Cerulean and towards Saffron city, from there they will reach Route 8 probably sometime in the afternoon.

Physical Appearance: At eighteen years old and an unimpressive 5'2", Cassie's stature matches her timid personality. Her hair is cut short, although it's slightly longer in front, and is a vivid light purple color. She has delicately formed features that are often described as "cute", especially with that little nose (that turns upward ever so slightly at the end), that are set with a pair of pale blue eyes that sometimes appear lilac in certain lights. Her skin is quite pale despite how much time she spends outside, although she does keep most of her body covered with her attire, which is an odd blend of adorable, modest, and sexy. It consists of a black tank top under a long-sleeved shirt that hangs off of her shoulders, the body being white and the sleeves being a dark indigo, with a front pocket edged in pale blue; this shirt is long enough that it mostly covers her (admittedly short) green plaid skirt. This skirt reveals a few inches of pale thigh before the remainder of her legs are covered by a set of striped stockings in two shades of purple. Topping off the ensemble is a pair of plain white sneakers with black accents. She wears a golden oval locket around her neck which has a picture of her father, and a brown leather belt around her left thigh.

Skills: Cassie is a skilled singer, although usually too shy to sing where people can hear her. She can also ride a bike and rollerskate, preferring the latter to the former; she can often be seen skating around town, listening to music.

Personality: Shy and non-confrontational, Cassie doesn't often speak to others, and perpetually keeps a lollipop in her mouth to use as an excuse to avoid conversation. She likes to read and keep to herself and doesn't have any true friends. She's fascinated by Pokemon and likes to learn as much about them as she can, which is a large part of what drove her to become a Pokemon trainer. She also wants to see the world and all the amazing things it has to offer. She loves cute and cuddly things and her favorite Pokemon is the only one she currently owns, Piplup.

Returning without a word, Cassie retrieved her shoes from the house's entryway and, after slinging her backpack onto her back, followed him outside. She locked the door behind her and picked up Piplup, then followed him. She was nervous, but excited. A great adventure awaited her.
